From routine cleanings and fillings to full mouth reconstruction, Cooper Cosmetic & Family Dentistry is equipped to handle all your dental needs. To help you navigate your options, we've included brief descriptions of our services.

BONDING

Bonding can be used as a conservative way of correcting spots and discolorations in your smile. It can also be used to change the shape or color of a tooth and close gaps in between your teeth. It involves removing the discolored areas and replacing them with a filling material that matches the surrounding tooth structure. Then the tooth is polished to a natural finish.

COSMETIC CONSULTATIONS

Cosmetic consultations can be set up to discuss any and all options available for your particular dental situation. We will meet to discuss your needs and desires. We will then develop a plan that meets your expectations and provides you with a full treatment plan.

DENTURES/PARTIALS

For missing teeth, we can make dentures or removable partials for you. A partial can be made to look just like surrounding teeth so your smile can be restored. A full denture can be created to look however you would like. You can pick the color, size, and shape of your new smile for a beautiful esthetic result!

EXTRACTIONS

Extractions may be recommended because of gum disease, not enough room in the mouth, for orthodontic reasons, or for teeth that are so badly decayed or broken that they cannot be restored. Local anesthesia is used to remove the tooth. Afterwards, you may need to think about replacing the space with a partial, bridge, or implant.

PORCELAIN VENEERS

Porcelain veneers are one of the most esthetic means of creating a more pleasing and beautiful smile. They require a minimal amount of tooth reduction (approximately .5 mm) and are therefore, a more conservative restoration than a crown. Porcelain veneers allow us to alter tooth position, shape, size and color. They are not the only alternative for all esthetic abnormalities but are truly a remarkable restoration when they are the treatment of choice.

ROOT CANALS

Endodontics is a branch of dentistry involving treatment of the pulp (root canal) and surrounding tissues of the tooth. When you look at your tooth in the mirror, what you see is the crown. The rest of the tooth, hidden beneath the gum line, is called the root. Though the outer portion of the root is a hard tissue called dentin, the inside channel or "root canal" contains a pulp of soft tissue, blood vessels and nerves. Bacteria that are introduced into the pulp as a result of tooth decay, periodontal disease, tooth fracture or other problems, can severely damage the pulp. When that happens, the diseased pulp needs to be removed to save the tooth and prevent further infection and inflammation. After successful endodontic treatment and proper restoration the tooth continues to perform normally.

TOOTH REPLACEMENTS

Missing teeth can be replaced in a number of ways. Teeth are replaced with partials, bridges, dentures, or implants. By factoring in which teeth you are missing, the desired final result and the financial investment you would like to make, we will come up with the replacement plan that is right for you.

CLEANING

It is recommended for most people to have their teeth cleaned and checked every six months at a dental office. The dental instruments used remove hardened plaque that can no longer be removed with your toothbrush. For some patients, we recommend more frequent cleanings because of existing gum disease.

CROWNS AND BRIDGES

Crowns are used to restore teeth that are broken or decayed beyond what a simple filling can repair. Crowns are made from porcelain or gold. Bridges are used to replace missing teeth when there is a tooth remaining in front of and behind the space. Both crowns and bridges are fabricated to look, feel, and function like all of your other teeth.

DENTAL IMPLANT RESTORATION

Implants are very durable and will last many years. They require the same maintenance as real teeth including brushing, flossing and regular dental check-ups. Dental implants can help restore almost anyone's smile even if natural teeth have been lost to injury or disease. A very common reason people consider implants is because a sliding lower denture makes chewing and talking difficult. Implants can also replace individual teeth and partial bridges in the upper and lower jaws. The majority of patients treated with dental implants experience a significant improvement in their ability to chew food and feel more comfortable.

NIGHTGUARDS

Whether you are an athlete or casual sports participant, you should wear a mouth guard to protect your teeth. If you grind your teeth while you sleep, a bite guard will help reduce symptoms of TMJ (Temporomandibular Joint Disorder). We custom make mouth guards which are available in both soft and hard materials.

ORAL EXAMINATIONS

Your initial oral examination includes a visual examination, charting, periodontal probing, diagnosis and treatment recommendations. We will also take x-rays, which includes the panoramic x-ray for proper diagnosis of the anterior (front) and posterior (back) teeth as well as the bite-wing x-ray series for proper diagnosis of proximal decay of posterior teeth.

TEETH WHITENING

Our in-office Power Bleaching system will make your teeth whiter in less than 1.5 hours. Another option is our home bleaching system you take with you for results in approximately two weeks. You can also consider a combination program of both systems for optimal, long-term results.

TOOTH COLORED FILLINGS

Tooth colored fillings are a safer and more attractive alternative to older silver amalgam fillings. By precisely matching tooth-colored composite fillings with the natural color of your teeth, we can provide you with white fillings that are virtually invisible. The removal of amalgam fillings can provide patients with white fillings that provide a more pleasing, silver free smile.
